The Magic the Gathering: Tactics (MTGT)....I had such hope for you. Let me start off by saying that I am a huge Magic the Gathering (MTG) fan. To say I was excited about MTGT when I heard about it is an understatement. Two of them are men, and the other one is a woman. Each planeswalker has a different weapon, but that has no affect on the gameplay. Now, I'm sure you're thinking "Okay, that sounds pretty solid for a beginning customization. I'm sure I'll Dream of Mirror gold be able to acquire new clothes and avatars as I play through the game, or at the very least buy them in the cash shop." As good as an idea as you have there, it's not going to happen. Your character customization has officially ended. After players pick from the three avatars, they are told to pick a starter deck from the five mana colors (white, blue, green, red, and black.) The main issue I have with the starter decks is that instead of giving you a mono colored deck, it gives you a duo colored deck. While that doesn't sound so bad to begin with, the game doesn't tell you what kind of cards you'll be getting in it. For instance, if you pick blue as your color, you'll get a black/blue deck. But, if you pick black, you'll get a black/red deck - and you still don't know what cards you'll be getting in them. Full Size Let's back up from nitpicking the game though. There are much larger issues that should have been addressed WAY before the game was released. For instance, the game was set to release on January 18, 2011. Did it release then? No. Throughout the whole day Sony Online Entertainment continued to tell their players "a few more hours until release" until finally, they stated that the game would launch on the 19th instead. Sure, the game was technically downloadable on the 19th, but I refuse to say that the game launched then. Many of us were able to download the game and login, but that's where the functionality of the client stopped. Many people were only able to see black screens, had unresponsive menus that crashed the game, or saw the game upside down. As far as I understand, most of this was due to throngs of people trying to download the game and log on at once to a server that wasn't prepared for this kind of traffic. But...shouldn't the open beta stress test have caught this problem? Sure. Except Sony buy domo gold Entertainment decided it was in their best interested not to have an open beta at all. Multiplayer matches had such horrendous lag that when a player ended their turn, the timer would continue icking down for 10 seconds to a minute - which is a huge deal when you only have 20 minutes to make ALL of your moves in an entire match. Luckily, for the players, single player was playable, and had relatively few bugs in the the tutorial missions and the first campaign (which is free.) In addition the the huge problems currently mentioned above, there were also bugs in the auction house where a player would buy a card and it would give them a different one, the daily free missions didn't work, and tournaments didn't always award prizes or calculate win/loss correctly.
